Job Title:                        Communications and Event Coordinator

Department:                Development

Reports To:                   Director of Development

Job Status:                    Non-exempt, Hourly, Full Time

Schedule:                       35 hours per week, option to include weekly telework

 

General Statement of Duties:

The Communications and Event Coordinator is a proactive team member who works directly with the Director of Development to meet goals related to development through outreach, awareness, communications, events, and fundraising which position WFCM to serve residents in need in the community.  

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Writing and processing monthly, periodic, and quarterly letters to donors

  2. Writing and processing donor acknowledgments and tracking notes and donations in the donor database

  3. Managing segments of donor communications and programs in accordance with Development KPIs

  4. Administration of donations, reports, and communications related to outreach, awareness, grants, and fundraising

  5. Developing content for monthly e-newsletters, designing newsletters in the e-newsletter system, and keeping address lists up to date while ensuring content is on-brand using WFCM’s Brand Guide

  6. Coordinate social media calendar, draft posts, and suggest content including photos and graphics using social media online system; monitor comments and reactions while ensuring content is on-brand using WFCM’s Brand Guide and consistent with other media

  7. Develop content for materials such as flyers, invitations, signs, and reports and assist with coordination of production and distribution of print materials including the bidding process

  8. Represent WFCM at community events and/or meetings online or in-person, including Reston Chamber of Commerce, Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce, Human Services Development Professionals; representation at business/networking organizations with the goal of growing WFCM presence in the community and relationship building which includes early morning and evening events

  9. Maintaining WFCM’s profile and event listing on pertinent calendars, i.e. chambers of commerce and other local associations

  10. Research element/gift options for events and obtain pricing, delivery, and distribution options

  11. Research sponsorship opportunities and draft sponsorship proposals as well as track progress in database system; maintain/create the deliverable schedule

  12. Coordinate and execute fundraising events including annual fall fundraiser with an online silent auction, spring golf tournament, cause marketing partner events, and donor programs; providing planning, preparation, on-site, and post-event participation as assigned which may include evening or weekend attendance at meetings or events

  13. Performs other duties as assigned

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree in a related field

  • Preferred 2-5 years of experience in related field

  • Willingness to work collaboratively with WFCM staff, volunteers, and donors

  • Agreement with the mission, vision, and core values of WFCM and the ability to communicate this mission to the public

  • Respect for the dignity and worth of all clients

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfort and experience networking in general and at in-person events; as well as making presentations

  • Ability to work independently on several projects concurrently keeping organized and tracking progress as well as prioritizing work based on deadlines

  • Creative thinking skills

  • Data entry/data management skills (Knowledge of Sales Force or other nonprofit CRM a plus)

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), online database/CRM and communications systems, and the use of social media/social media systems (In particular, HootSuite, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram)

  • Research skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal and outreach skills

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

  • Valid driver’s license and access to transportation

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs.

  • Able to stand for extended periods

  • Able to sit at a desk comfortably while working on a computer, for extended periods of time
