Client Services Specialist

Department:  Client Services

Reports To:  Director of Client Operations & Programs

Last Updated:  June 2021

Job Status:  Non-exempt, Hourly, Temporary, Part-time

Hours Per Week:  8 (Wednesday/Friday 10:00 am - 2:00 pm preferred)

General Statement of Duties:  The Client Services Specialist meets with clients seeking assistance with food, rent, and utilities to handle certification, annual re-certification, emergency assistance and referrals for additional services provided by WFCM partners.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts initial intakes and needs assessment interviews with clients seeking emergency assistance

  • Conducts annual re-certifications for clients on a rolling basis throughout the year

  • Accepts and makes referrals to Coordinated Services Planning and other resources

  • Updates and maintains individual client files and database

  • Coordinates client appointments

  • Recommends disbursements of financial assistance; makes pledges for rent and utility bills for clients, as needed

  • Discusses cases with Director of Operations or Executive Director for approval of fund disbursement

  • Makes referrals for food, clothing, and household goods, as needed

  • Assists with client programs and financial assistance grants

  • Helps enforce distribution of USDA food and similar programs to include ensuring adherence to program guidelines

  • May assist with client intake for pantry and client services appointments and entering appointment data and food distribution information in database

  • Works in collaboration as part of Client Operations Team to serve clients

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English Korean required

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Experience in social work or client relations field

  • Experience in Microsoft office suite

  • Experience in Salesforce preferred

  • Willingness to work collaboratively with WFCM staff, volunteers, and donors

  • Agreement with the mission, vision, and core values of WFCM and ability to communicate this mission to the public

  • Respect for the dignity and worth of all clients

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Data entry/data management skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to prioritize work tasks and carry out multiple tasks at the same time

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand for extended periods

  • Able to sit at a desk comfortably while working on a computer, for extended periods of time
