Volunteer

WFCM's Volunteer Program is the heart of our operation. Volunteers are essential to our mission, and their unselfish donation of time and talents allows us to use more of our resources for the clients we serve. WFCM volunteers are dedicated to serving their neighbors in need and we cannot thank them enough!

Opportunities for volunteer service are endless and vary in complexity. Our volunteers are involved with most aspects of our life at WFCM. For example:
  • They serve on our Board of Directors, and they act as liaisons between us and our supporting churches.
  • They pick up and deliver food from local grocery stores and restaurants, stock shelves and assist clients with shopping for and bagging their food.
  • Some volunteers answer the phones, greet clients and make appointments.
  • Thrift store volunteers assist us by working as cashiers, accepting donations, sorting and hanging clothing and keeping our thrift store clean and organized.
  • We also have volunteers who teach a budgeting class, provide transportation to medical appointments, meet with new clients and those needing financial assistance.
  • We even have a resident "Mr. Fix-it" volunteer, who assists with the furniture ministry, changes lightbulbs and has helped us with many a repair issue!
Currently we have 75 individuals who volunteer regularly on a weekly basis. During FY 2011, we had over 600 volunteers who contributed more than 16,700 total hours of time. We are extremely grateful to our volunteers and pray that we continue to be blessed by these dedicated, compassionate (and invaluable!) individuals in the coming years.

Limited and long-term volunteer opportunities are available to individuals and groups, and scheduled ongoing service hours are available.
