About Us
Our Mission: "As an expression of God's love and an opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Western Fairfax Christian Ministries provides life-essential support to those needing our assistance."
With a longing to answer the call God placed before them, men and women from 12 Northern Virginia churches resolved to find ways to help meet the increasing requests for emergency assistance. WFCM formed in 1987, and the food pantry and "clothing closet" (which has evolved!) formed in 1996. We currently serve those in need in Centreville, Chantilly, Fair Oaks, Clifton and Fairfax Station.
There are currently over 1,500 homeless men, women & children in Fairfax County. Approximately 85% of WFCM clients are at or below the poverty level...many are families with children. There are many reasons why individuals become homeless. It often begins with poverty and is compounded by job loss, health conditions, divorce, physical abuse, low wages, the shortage of housing, high rent and the lack of independent living skills.
WFCM has developed and implemented multiple modes of assistance, including but not limited to: emergency financial assistance for rent and utilities, counseling and budgeting classes, a year-round food pantry, a thrift store, a mercy ministry, a Holiday Assistance Program, a School Backpack Program...and more!
WFCM was selected for the 2009/2010 Catalogue for Philanthrophy and is described as "One of the best small charities in the Greater Washington region."
Thank you and God bless you for your continued support!
