Food Pantry
The WFCM Food Pantry provides donated food once per month to individuals and families in need, as well as USDA surplus food.In FY 2012, we had 4,154 food appointments—an increase from last year’s 3,789 food appointments. We provided 732 unique households, including 1,266 adults and 962 children, with 34,070 bags of groceries. While we saw only a fractional amount more last year—741 households (1,236 adults and 1,037 children)—the needs increased this year. We also provided 2,577 more bags of groceries this year over the last.
At WFCM, we know the money a family saves each month on groceries free up money for other bills.
The total value of Food Services provided to our clients in FY 2012 was: $591,005.06. Last year we provided $589,801.62.
This year we have appreciated the support of our community partnerships. Thanks to the continued efforts of the Sully District Boy Scouts, our ministry partner churches, area schools and community residents, we have been able to sustain the increasing demand for food. We also receive perishables and produce from:
- Costco
- Food Lion
- Giant
- Harris Teeter
- Trader Joe’s
