
WFCM Board of Directors
The WFCM Board of Directors, in conjunction with WFCM staff, advance and promote the work of WFCM in countless ways. Here is a listing of current Board of Directors officers and members:
- Jeri Lassiter (President) is currently the President and CEO at ASM Research, Inc. ASM is an Information Technology and Professional Services firm located in Fairfax, Virginia providing services to Federal, State and Local customers. Jeri joined the Board of Directors in January of 2009 and serves as the President of the Board and Chair of the Programs Committee. Jeri and her husband reside in Centreville, Virginia.
- Jan Welch (Past President) is a former Executive Director of WFCM (1994-2001) and led the effort in developing the Food Pantry and Thrift Store. She also worked in the real estate and mortgage industry, and has considerable experience in parish, diocesan and national church organizations and ministries. She spent four years at Washington State University and also completed Education for Ministry at the University of the South. As President of the Board, she also chairs the Human Resources Committee. She is currently on the Vestry at Epiphany Anglican Church in Herndon, Virginia.
- Rob Osterhout (Vice President) is a retired Air Force Colonel and a former Vice President and Senior Business Manager for Science Applications International Corporation. As Vice President of the Board of Directors for WFCM, he chairs the Development Committee and Marketing and Communications Committtee, led the strategic planning offsite, and drafted the current WFCM Strategic Plan.
- Jim Wright (Treasurer) is currently the Tax Director at Iridium Satellite in Bethesda, MD and has been in that position since 2005. Prior to that, he was the Senior Director of Tax at MicroStrategy in McLean, VA from 2002-2005; the Vice President of Tax at Orbital Sciences Corporation in Dulles, VA from 1994-2001; a tax Senior Manager at KPMG in McLean, VA from 1988-2004; and a tax Senior at Ernst & Young from 1985-1988. He has a Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law and a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from Washburn University. He has been a Board Member and Treasurer of WFCM since August 2008.
- Renee Cole (Secretary) joined the Board in October of 2009. She holds a B.S. in Finance from Oakland University and is currently employed with RW Armstrong in Chantilly, VA. She has served as a volunteer with several non-profit organizations throughout the years. She continues to be a passionate advocate for grieving children, suicide prevention, and the mentally ill. Ms. Cole lives in Centreville, VA with her husband, Ron, and their two children. They attend Centreville Presbyterian Church.
- Dan Whitaker joined the Board in January of 2008 and also serves as the Chair of WFCM’s Annual Golf Tournament and on the WFCM Development Committee. He was a member of the USAF from 1978-1986. He owns and manages a small home improvement company which he opened in 2004 after working in construction management. He served as President of the Brookfield Swim Club for three years.
- W.T. (Tom) Miller is a CPA practicing with the firm Thompson, Greenspon & Co., PC. He specializes in the non-profit sector, permitting him to work closely with organizations to assist them in performing within the 501(c) guidelines. He is a past President and Treasurer of WFCM and rejoined the board in early 2009. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Virginia Tech as well as a Masters Degree in Taxation from George Mason University. He has taken a very active role in the community. In addition to serving on the Board of WFCM, he is a vestry member of the Church of the Epiphany.
- Ted Argleben joined the Board in early 2009. Ted teaches a budget and financial planning course called “Financial Peace University” for WFCM clients and other interested participants. He is currently a commercial loan officer with Access National Bank, a community bank serving small to medium-sized businesses in the Greater Washington DC area. He is an SBA loan expert and specializes in lending to religious organizations for such purposes as land acquisition and construction.
- S.E. Nunamaker joined the Board in October of 2009. Professionally, S.E. worked for the Marriott and Sodexo organizations for 47 years. Since moving to Northern Virginia in 1991, he has taken an active role in various Community Service programs, service organizations, Pender United Methodist Church's outreach ministries and WFCM. He serves on several committees and is the Vice Chair for the Pender Hill School Board. S.E. attended the University of Pittsburgh and Shenandoah University, majoring in education and business. He and his wife reside in Chantilly Highlands and are members of Pender United Methodist Church.
- Elaine Costanzo Duke joined the Board in August 2010 and is a member of the WFCM Programs Committee. She is currently the Principal, Elaine Duke & Associates, LLC. Elaine retired from federal service in April 2010, a career serving the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Department of Navy and other federal agencies. Her position at retirement was Under Secretary for Management at DHS. She also served as the Chief Procurement Officer at DHS and the Assistant Administrator for Acquisition at DHS Transportation Security Administration.
- Melissa Jansen (WFCM Executive Director) came to WFCM in January of 2008 with over six years of experience in the non-profit sector. She is currently responsible for the day to day operations of the ministry, in addition to fundraising, marketing, and compliance activities. In her previous position as Director of Sanctity of Life Ministries, Ms. Jansen opened the center, hired both staff and volunteers, and provided oversight for the daily operations of the organization. In addition, Melissa has over 15 years of experience in the field of education, both public and private, and has a background in counseling, and 10 years of management experience in the for-profit sector. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in Education, and currently resides in Lorton, Virginia with her husband and two children. She serves as the WFCM staff representative to the WFCM Board of Directors.
