Nigel (name changed) came to America from another country in 2000. He had $2400 in his pocket, took a bus from the airport to his hotel and was promptly robbed. After wondering the streets, some Christian men gave him $50, some food, and paid for three more nights at his hotel. They also referred him to a local shelter. Eventually a family invited Nigel to stay with them, and they introduced him to WFCM.
Beginning as a food pantry volunteer, Nigel helped stocked shelves while he helped clean the offices and cut the grass at a local supportive church. He was baptized as a believe in Christ that year. As Nigel became a “regular” volunteer at WFCM, our social worker and staff began to see his other financial needs and helped him establish a budget and eventually move out on his own. Today, eight years later, he rents his own condo and has a full-time job.
Nigel says, “Although I already knew about Christ from early teachings and ESL classes in my home town, it was when I came to Chantilly and WFCM that I began my Christian walk. Jesus said “Come and follow me” and that is what I did.”
At WFCM, we have an opportunity to share the Gospel with clients like Nigel. No matter where they come from, no matter what their needs are, Christ is here and ready to meet them. We need your support so we can purchase bibles, tracts, and other materials. We are currently offering a Christian budget class and we need to order workbooks. Won’t you come alongside us as we serve more in 2008?

Violet (name changed) first came to WFCM five years ago. At the time, she was employed but needed some help with her food needs and rent. Then she damaged her vertebrae and became disabled; now using a wheelchair. Violet said, “I was on food stamps, stretched thin, and living on my social security check. Western Fairfax Christian Ministries saved my life.”
This past February, Violet’s mother passed away, leaving her a house, which she hopes to sell. She still visits the food pantry each month, and gets help with her utility bills. Violet believes she is blessed and that said she always feels welcomed by the staff and volunteers at WFCM.
Like Violet and many others in our community, WFCM is committed to providing life-essential support to those who seek our assistance. In August of 2008, we will begin offering emergency financial assistance to offset the costs of rent, utilities and medical costs. We also have 15 of our clients enrolled in our budget class, Financial Peace University, taught by two gracious volunteers. Because of your continued support, we will continue to minister to the poor, hungry and underprivileged.
As our way of thanking you for your support, we also invite you to be our guest, free of charge, at our Fall Fellowship Dinner on Nov. 7th. That evening, you and your guests will have an opportunity to hear and see some of our grateful clients, a video presentation of a day in the life of WFCM, and enjoy a great meal and keynote speaker. We hope you will join us!
